What is needed for the badges we’ve got planned for our party?
- Your imagination, enthusiasm and energy
And, then, you will need:
For St. John Paul II Badge, patron saint of acting/theater
-If you have an images of him or books about him, have those nearby. We’ll be sure to do a show and tell of what we all have to share with those attending.
-We will be doing a simple skit around the visit of a very special visitor (which saint do you think we’ll pick?). If you want to join in the fun, feel free to dress up as your favorite saint or put on a few of your favorite dress-ups as you might to attend a formal theater production. Do you have a favorite hat, fancy gloves or just a scarf to drape around your shoulders?
You will have a bit of time during our John Paul II badge to pull yourself together as we will have to as well.
-Come ready with your imagination as we’ll be do some long-distance acting together.
For our St. Camillus de Lellis, patron saint of first aid and health care workers
-We’ll be looking to build a simple first aid kit that can be put into the family car or even a backpack. Make a quick visit to your local dollar store or ask your parent if you can take some items from your home first aid kit. For this you will need:
-a pencil pouch or make-up bag to use
-a selection of sticky bandages (band-aids)
-a few antibacterial/alcohol wipes for quick disinfecting
Talk with your parents about what else you might like such as antibacterial ointment, gauze bandages, portable ice pack or a washcloth for emergency washing up (we will be including all of these and talking about simple first aid for their use).
-Please also have three (3) index cards which we will use to make emergency # cards for your first aid kit & your home as well as to copy (or cut and paste) the following prayer to have in your car when you see an emergency or accident:
Almighty and Everlasting God, the eternal salvation of those who believe in You, hear us on behalf of Your servants who are sick or injured, for whom we humbly beg the help of your mercy, so that, being restored to health, they may render thanks to you in your Church.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen
